Flashing your phones :D

On February last year I purchased a new phone (hurray!). The Cherry Mobile Nova was all that I thought I needed to complete my day since it was constantly calling out my name every time I entered a mall o.0 I had it for like 3 months before I started to get really bored of the stock android 2.1 that the phone came in so I searched online and encountered a few posts about rooting or flashing phones.
On May 13, 2011 I just became (in my own world that day ^__^) a certified nova flasher. hahaha! Thanks to Geekierchick's blog I updated my nova to 2.3 gingerbread! woot!! and I enjoyed the benefits of having an upgraded os version and explored to my heart's content-yey! BUT.. after trying a few more updates (i tried flashing back and forth) I noticed that the battery was draining constantly and it went from more than a day of heavy usage to less than half a day! My hands got really clammy when this happened and I had to go and downgrade again. I found a blog (thanks to t-rex at pump out my paradigm here on blogger! :D) which taught me that my battery can still be saved! yey again! so I changed the kernel- yadayada-you can search it here on blogger so I won't post it anymore. XD It now lasts to more than a day and a half of normal usage and to a day and a few hours for heavy usage. My life was completed again... Then just last December, I searched online and discovered that bada 2.0 for the Samsung Wave 1 and 2 was released for Europe users (i think it was still the beta version..but still.. an upgrade..) and well.. it kinda impressed me. There's a new look to it. Aaaand the camera- which I like in this phone- has been improved (autofocus during video recording) so I thought "Hmmm.. what if I tried to flash this?" (By the way, my wave 2 was purchased a month before my cm nova). So that's the big question now. Should I flash my wave 2 or not? I'm currently, yes, as of this moment downloading the files to extract and upgrade my wave 2 (it's not the official version but so was the one I used in rooting my nova) and I'm still having an internal debate whether to push through with this or not. It says I have three hours left. It's a big file!! I'm excited but at the same time urrgghhh. What if something untoward happens? I cannot brick my phone. The service centers here have no clue what to do if it gets bricked (I know coz I know more about their products than they do-which doesn't say much for them). T_T
I really need to be careful with this one. Me and my mom split the amount. So she paid half of this and it will crush her to know I killed my baby!! and by the way, I gave my graduating sister the nova as a present so this wave will have to be kept alive!! It's the dilemma I'm having because first, it's tiring to see the same screen with no hope of any customization (like effects on scrolling in android and live wallpapers) day after day. Second, I'm tired of having to exit my browser since it doesn't have text reflow so pages not fit for mobile browsing will have a big sign saying it's too big to display and then you will have to exit everything and click the internet sign in order to browse again. T_T third, if I upgrade this and it get's bricked, my mom and dad and sister will get mad. Why not be content with what you have? yadayada.. It's human to crave improvement in everything you do and in everything around you right? It's normal..but they won't understand.  I hope I can find some sort of sign to guide me. Preferably between now and three hours from now. hehehe

So there you have it. This is not a tutorial or tips on how to upgrade your phone but rather some sort of silly pity-rant-self congratulatory post. I'm dreadfully confused. But- que sera sera!! XD I'll post something when I've already decided on how to proceed. The bada 2.0 update for my phone in the Philippines and other parts of the world has been delayed for 2012 after they said it will all be available before new year 2012..but samsung's like that...keeping us hanging in the air. <sigh>
